USMC Capt. Derek Herrera Retirement Ceremony

* U.S. Marine Capt. Derek Herrera, 1st Marine Special Operations Battalion, Marine Special Operations Regiment, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command, speaks during his awards and retirement ceremony aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., Nov. 21. Capt. Derek Herrera was paralyzed June 14, 2012 while conducting combat operations in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

* An inspirational ceremony by a true hero and a testament to the healing work being done for our wounded military members...the special apparatus that enables Capt. Herrera to stand and walk is truly amazing.

2014 - New River Makes It "4 in a Row"

* MOAA recently announced it's 4- and 5-Star winners in the annual Levels of Excellence award competition that recognizes topnotch councils and chapters.

* The very best councils and chapters receive five-star awards, and above-average councils and chapters receive four-star awards.

* For the fourth year, the New River Chapter has been recognized with a 5-Star streamer.
